About the maker.
I am Allie Jones and my little garage studio, while not on the leading edge or even the first of its kind, is a sanctuary and solace in this chaotic world. Humanity has been finding ways to hide out in garages and she sheds for decades, maybe even centuries, but I like to think mine is unique in that it houses me, my art, and welcomes everyone in as if they were family.
One unique thing that tends to influence my art is that I am a full time HR professional and a pharmacy technician by trade. I somewhat am only a part time ceramic artist, but really the creativity never stops. I have a one year old, wild little boy and I juggle this chaotic professional life with being his mama, and a wife, daughter, friend, and human. Through these many adventures the mud always brings me out the other side. I am a self taught artist with an ever unfinished formal education. My BFA might be done in 2043, it may not, but I am always learning through workshops, connection, and perseverance. In this space failure is not seen as failing it is a learning and teaching experience.
The pieces that come out of my studio are made with care, passion, and skill that can only be gained through practice and time along the way. Each work of art is fired multiple times in a mid-range electric kiln and comes out gorgeously, fully functional. This means that all eatery and dinnerware pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe, they can be well loved and used time and time again.
Much like my personal growth and development the studio’s site and web store are consistently under research and development. You can find my work locally at festivals and markets, as well as through shop updates online. Please check back often or keep in touch via email for more information on how you can brighten your home and day with a Garage Studio Pottery piece.
